What goes into your total?
Total = rolling fee + applicable government charges + any disclosed extras. A billing number may change which charges you pay at the counter. Ask the requesting agency what is covered, then confirm it with the operator.
Do not pay for an FBI check simply because another applicant needed one. Use the levels of service on your own agency instructions.
A short script for getting a useful quote
Ask: “I have the request form from my agency. What is the total for this application, including your rolling fee, government charges, card fees and any other charges? Is an appointment required?”
For mobile service, add the address, number of applicants and time window. Ask whether setup and travel are charged per visit or per applicant.
When someone else pays
If your employer says it will pay, confirm whether that means direct billing or reimbursement after your visit. Keep the itemized receipt and your applicant copy. A promise of reimbursement is different from a billing arrangement accepted at the counter.
